I’ve been working on this painting for 7 weeks now. The original reference was a Rembrandt painting. I’ve been struggling with this from the start and now after 7 weeks I decided to scrap all of the background and put her in a swamp. One day left on it next week.

Quick studies I did today for a larger painting. Working out the composition and colouring and values.
Building up the portrait and adjusting shapes as I work on it every week. I have another 6 weeks left on this one and it’s slowly coming along. Next week he may open his eyes!
I feel like this is what I look like on periscope when people ask me if I’m high. 😂 Had a super great time modeling for the portrait course at my school and being painted by my amazing senior tutor. We gave him hell but he’s incredible.
Warming back up with a rough cast drawing. 2 tone and incomplete and a 20 min figure drawing.
Lighting is a bit better in this one. I really enjoyed learning to paint landscapes this week 🙌🏼
