We are spending some time on Ameland, an island in the north of the Netherlands. During high tide a lot of the birds move to the meadows where they are a little easier to spot. They share the space with the numerous sheep on the island, but everybody gets along just fine.

The autumn crocus is a welcome sight this time of year. Just when you think you’ve seen the last of the flowers in your garden this beauty pops up. Not a true crocus, the autumn crocus is also known as naked lady and is actually quite poisonous.
