As much as I look forward to S/V, the only thing I don't like so far is the Terastal Phenomenon. Unlike previous gimmicks like Mega Evolutions or Z-Moves, it just feels like an excuse to sell toys rather than add to the overall metagame.

Yes, the original Archie comic was also made to advertise the games, but at the same time it felt like there was more of an actual story, actual characters, and an actual setting. It felt like they were actually using the material given to them and making something interesting.
