Smooth rock surfaces in Shade reflect the sky. Just look for urself outside. In painting it creates convincing volume.

Cool tones recede and warm tones come forward. The distance is always bluer/ paler.

You can achieve this in Photoshop- but it takes conscious effort. I'll talk more about this later.
