Im excited to participate (if only for a bit) in this year’s fight!!
Up to this day, drawing Mau keeps teaching me A LOT on what I’d like to achieve with my artstyle. In fact this year’s drawing is based on the original pride drawing I made of him! Putting them side by side it’s very fun to see how both Mau and my style have evolved since then!
As the years went by I also took more liberties while drawing his tail, and instead of focusing on keeping a consistent maple pattern I started to “wing it”, focusing on the fluffyness and shapes of it instead, same with the ears too! Last year’s pride drawing is a clear example!
It’s really weird to see how he has changed over the years!! Originally his fur used to be redder, but I changed it into a more orange tone as the years went by (I originally wanted him to be orange like a fox)
Technically speaking, while his ref was created on the 9th of June, I consider today his birthday because the first ever fully rendered drawing I made of him was finished on the 15th (plus additionally mid June is easier for me to remember 🐕)
