44. This is mostly so that they can pursue their own *individual* romantic / platonic interests without it getting weird, but also it's for further story development.

Nate wanting to be there for Kane but not knowing his family adds up for a good story.

43. A retcon: Nate and Kane aren't cousins, but best friends!

Nate belonged in the weapons development scene, and Kane was a fighter he developed weapons for in the army.

Kane and Nate met and grew closer, especially after he saw how much spunk the pastel boy had inside.
