Issues 11 and 12finally has them meet. Saturnyne immediately voices her displeasure. She’s yet another person who doubts Betsy and judges her past...behavior. But she’s done this job. She’s been a hero. Why does she have to keep proving herself? That frustration is growing.

Issue 7 we see her once again proudly claiming to be Captain Britain. She also shows frustration when the team meets with Cullen and he discusses the doubts about Betsy in the role.

By issue 6, Excalibur has to return to Otherworld and in doing so make one last ditch effort to save Brian. Although they succeed he is so consumed by the black magic he picks the Sword of Might. Relinquishing his captain status he asks Betsy to take it away. She is the only CB.

Issue 1 of Excalibur. Brian is captured by Morgan Le Fay and turned into her dark minion. Brian, in a moment of sentience, gives the amulet to Betsy so she can escape. She now claims the mantle and power of Captain Britain.
