Here are a few of the earliest sketches done to show the progression that led to the final designs. More just trying to come up with some of the shape language to set a base for when it would eventually be modeled in 3D.

For some of our earlier designs we thought of making our Savathun look more like a bride with a veil over her face to add to the mystery of the character. The veil idea was eventually dropped but was a fun idea to try.

Warframes like Oberon (with his horns), Titania & Khora (with their silhouettes), Trinity
(with her headpiece & flowing tassels) & Ivara (with her prime jelly veil) were all huge
sources of inspiration!

The other obvious design influence had to come from Hive Wizards and other Hive
bosses. The Brood Mother, Omnigul & Dul Incaru were important, but we also looked
into the design of Oryx & Nokris.
