• Ring-tailed Lemurs are known to be the most popular species of lemurs.
Lemurs are the spirits of the night. The term derive from the latin word "lemures" which referes to specters of the death, or ghosts in ancien rome.

• Tenrecs are diverse in appearance; due to convergent evolution, some look like hedgehogs.
They differ from hedgehogs in that hedgehogs roll into a ball and hiss at potential predators, while tenrecs will unroll, attack and bite.

• Endemic freshwater fishes of Madagascar have declined dramatically due to the introduction of carnivorous species, competition with other invasive fish species, and overfishing.

Day 25 - Hapalemur
• Aloatran bamboo lemur is endemic to the shores of Lake Alaotra in northeastern Madagascar. The species is critically endangered, threatened by destruction of its habitat converted to rice fields, the pet trade and hunting.

•The pale fork-marked lemur is a nocturnal primate, which lives in the dry Western forests of Madagascar. The species is easily distinguished from the other lemurs by the fork-marked black strips that extend from the head to the back.

• The Hairy-eared dwarf lemur is unquestionably among the rarest of surviving lemurs. It's a very small nocturnal species.
Deforestation and destruction of its habitat are the main threats to the species.
