@fyscuit Yeah, I think it's better to be something that "matches" but it's easy to know what is "important". Genshin is like that as well (but way better executed than SwSh xD).
One problem that I can see happening in PLA is problem with colorblindness, for example. But I can't confirm xD

Gen 7 is not my favorite, but it was more enjoyable than Gen 4.

Let’s look at Charmander real quick. It’s the “Lizard Pokemon”, so obviously it’s not a snake, right?
Well, if we believe Chimchar is the Monkey, even though Chimps aren’t similar to Monkeys, but both are Primates, then Lizard and Snakes could also fit, since both are Squamates.

Unless...

ANYWAYS, where does Fuecoco fit in here? It’s a crocodile. There is no animal in the zodiac that is in the family of Crocodylidae or even the order of Crocodilia... Fuecoco could turn into a snake, since both are reptile, but their categories are REALLY different.

Fennekin is the Dog, even though it’s a Fox in the Pokedex. That’s because Fox is from the family Canidae, the same as dogs and wolves.

Litten is the Tiger for the same reason. Both Cat and Tiger are from the Felidae. And Litten has stripes just like a tiger =p

Now, let’s address the “curve balls” in this theory.

Cyndaquil is the Rat, because, in its Pokedex, it’s called “Fire Mouse Pokemon”. Both Rat and Mouse are from the family Muridae, so it fits.

Now, so I can explain why I think Charmander is the Snake, we need to see what is the pattern in this theory.
Every single Fire Starter is an animal that is in the Chinese Zodiac.
The most obvious are Torchic (Rooster), Chimchar (Monkey), Tepig (Pig) and Scorbunny (Rabbit).
