Finally got around to watch The Bob's Burgers Movie. Despite some shortcomings, it's more of something "already great", with a lot of laughs and strong emotional moments. 🍔
Thread time! (Minor spoilers) 🧵🧵🧵
Given Daft Punk's disbanding, I've been trying to catch up with Gorillaz' music, lore (why do they have so much lore) and style, and it's outstanding. Don't think there's a musician/group/whatever of whom I've bothered to learn more songs from.
This story followed the Office-like antics of a group of workers that tried to keep a staples company afloat. However, they were all over-the-top, like Macs being super-into action movies, the boss yodeling, and reptilians being confirmed (Macs is 1/4th reptilian)
However, in May, I had a terrible streak of weeks, where I was very bummed out. Trying to cheer myself, I wanted to create a new concept that would be more slapstick and funny in nature.
Staplecorp Ltd was born, if not a bit short lived.
I also have taken some detours into practising portraits, to try to come up with more diverse faces. I kinda like the ones I did for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
And I got to theorize Whipped & Steamy Cosplay Cafe's characters. I decided to not hold back and play with my own vision of exaggeration. Since sexy doesn't do much for me, I pushed the other over-the-top aspects and diversified body types.
The villains were where it was at: I challenged myself to design "dumb villains from the Golden Age", and actual characters that took their powers and became a threat. Thus, some like Jacuzzi Yakuza would sound dumb, yet designed to be an actual threat.
Making a thread about what I've done with Character Design this year! Featuring a ton of sketches and insight! 🧵
For 2022, I made it my goal to do more artwork and focus a lot less on it being perfect, so I can show it around. So far, I've failed miserably at both though :B
Just like Game Jams, Art Fight is an event that one engage with at their own pace: Want to meet people? Do casual art for a month? Improve your skills? Challenge yourself to do many attacks? Do a big mass attack? Everything goes! No wrong way to go at it!
An #Artfight2022 Post-Mortem thread. 🧵
For those not on the loop, @theartfight is a yearly online event where people submit their original characters to a website and draw other artists', promoting artistic growth, camaraderie and good will. I've been a regular since 2019. 🎨
