The countdown to Christmas has begun!
This year we're reciting a famous poem...but with a twist! Here is Day #1 of our Advent Calendar, from old Stevenston:
T'was the night before Christmas, when all through North Ayrshire
Not a creature was stirring, not even a...Donkey!?
It's #CarFreeDay! With over 1 billion vehicles worldwide, today aims to take the heat off the planet by encouraging us to find an alternative. Here's #Ardrossan, #Millport, #Saltcoats and #Arran - not a car in sight!

Never mind.
It's probably nothing.

More paintings from the North Ayrshire Art Collection, these are by #Irvine artist Jim Collins. He worked in #shipyards until June 1989, but has been painting and drawing all his life. His work is surrealist and links to memories of the shipyards.

Ever wondered about the #fountain outside #Stevenston Library? It was gifted to Stevenston in 1910 by Rev Patrick Warner of Ardeer. It used to stand at Fullerton Place, then moved to its current position

Capt James Crawford built the Garrison in 1745 as barracks for the officers of the “Royal George”.
