#OnThisDay 27 May 1595 - Hugh O'Neill, Earl of Tyrone, defeated the English forces of his brother-in-law, Sir Henry Bagenal, at the Battle of Clontibret in Co. #Monaghan; he was proclaimed a traitor at Newry in June.
This supplement was published #OTD 21 April 1894. It refers to the poverty in the #Aranislands or The Arans [na hÁrainneacha] a group of three islands - Inishmore, Inishmaan and Inisheer, located at the mouth of Galway Bay, on the west coast of Ireland.
