We return to the present and she says that the purpose to life is to burn things. This is symbolic/representative of many things. Not only is she representing Hansung Yu’s purpose as shown in the Last Station arc but she is satiating the excitement that she needs in her own life-

But, Hansung Yu’s proposal of burning the past establishment and rebuilding it struck a cord with Evankhell. As remarked about by the Ancient Evankhell’s heart was beating fast, the fire of passion that had been slowing flickering away was being reawaken.

This is when she meets Hansung Yu for the umpteeth time and we can see that despite being capable of doing so she just doesn’t kill Hansung off the bat. She listens to him and while she is inclined to dismiss her whole idea but finds it strangely enticing to her.

She doesn’t judge people by their morals but rather by the lives they attempt to live and the power they display. She doesn’t easily sympathize with people, but she can respect them. Whether it be for their power or for their beliefs.

However, it’s through the conversation with Ancient inside of her that we get more clarification about her perception towards life. She doesn’t believe in a life that holds no purpose or desires. Living for the sake of living is lame to her and subsequently not respectable.

This is expanded upon in the next flashback where Evankhell is killing people who wanted to escape Jahad which shows that she doesn’t really care about the moral values of the people she kills. She cared about their power and their desire to live lives she seems respectable.

When Hansung responds and explains that he doesn’t fear death but losing the emotions that spurn on his life. This resonates with Evankhell as she agrees with Hansung which and spares his life. Because Hansung lives a life that Evankhell finds respectable and meaningful.
