Wazir Akbar Khan and Amanullah Khan are celebrated heroes of AFG because they fought against the British for AFG independence & sovereignty.
Hikmatyar, Rabbani, Khallis, Ahmad Shah Masud et al., are heroes because they fought against the invader Soviet army in AFG.
But...
There have been only two South Asian men in history who dictated terms to the otherwise mighty British empire; One was Tipu Sultan (Treaty of Mangalore 1784) and the other one was prince Muhammad Wazir Akbar Khan (1st Anglo-Afghan War, 1841).
