Para mis amigos de Canarias :)
Canary islands still keep a lot of endemic life, which is threatened by urban development and invasive species such as cats. If people protect them, they won't meet the same fate as these two. #paleoart #IslandFaunaWeek
wow I actually finished a second piece today! Crete was my first size chart ever, and I wanted to make a new one for so long 😩😩😩 #paleoart #IslandFaunaWeek
Trying out a new style for size charts with more simplistic drawings, what do you think? #paleoart #IslandFaunaWeek
Daily chibi #paleoart for #IslandFaunaWeek
The last Meiolania tortoises went extinct 2,000 years ago, the genus had persisted for 50 million years until humans arrived. 🥲
Not all Megaloceros were giants, M. matritensis from Spain was a red deer-sized form adapted to warmer climates. Its antlers weren't as palmated, but the antler structure is the same. It probably evolved from the Central European species M. savini. #paleoart
woof woof! More additions to the chibi #paleoart collection also on line with #IslandFaunaWeek
Usually known as the Sardinian dhole, Cynotherium is found in both Sardegna and Corse, so I think the Corsican population also deserves its own name!
For the start of #IslandFaunaWeek I'm just going to post some of the different artworks I've made representing insular fauna of the Mediterranean, which is the region I focus on the most. #paleoart #sciart
Never too late to post for #WorldRhinoDay! While hippos and elephants are common extinct island faunas, rhinos aren't because they are poor swimmers (except Asian species). The Philippine rhino is a very rare example of this, it was around the size of a Sumatran rhino🤏🦏
The Caribbean islands have a very diverse arrange of extinct animals, and it's a pity they often go unnoticed, so today's daily post of chibi #paleoart is for the three main islands!
