My #countryhousepic today shows the four faces of West Wycombe Park #Bucks, an early 18th century house progressively remodelled by Sir Francis Dashwood (1708-81), later Lord Le Despencer, in the 1750s and 1760s.
Clutton's Melchet Court replaced an apparently unrecorded Georgian house (Melchet Park) which in turn replaced a medieval lodge in Clarendon Forest. What is recorded is this rather charming 'Hindoo Temple' built c.1800 to celebrate the owner's friendship with Warren Hastings.
Roos and Barry also developed gardens at Shrubland on a lordly scale, within the setting of a @HumphryRepton landscape.
In 1806 an attractive porch was built on the north side of Culford Hall and in 1828 a domineering portico was added to the south side.
My #countryhousepic today shows Watermillock, Bolton, built 1880-86 for the Thwaites family by Bradford & Gass
