The playbooks of the base game include stuff like "The Elf", "The Dwarf", "The Halfling", which may initially seem very bog standard fantasy until you realize that it is up to the individual player to decide what a Dwarf even is and the game encourages you to get weird with it!
I have since been informed that the icons predate the special edition by at least 16 years, as seen in this screenshot from the 1993 Sega CD release.
Sometimes, as a game master you just stumble into creating one of your favourite NPCs of all time. Considering I literally threw her together as a one-and-done challenge very early on in my ExWoD game and gave her a ridiculous name to match, it is unreal how much I love Hexbane.
@transparencyboo She also has a robot companion she calls "Six", because she's already lost five robots previously and part of her character arc is working on her dismissive attitude towards robots.
Six' character arc is so mired in spoilers I'm not even gonna get into it but it's great stuff.
@transparencyboo Aliya Elasra from "Heaven's Vault" is an Archaeologist in a world where her skills aren't valued.
Torn between her two homes, the Imperialist Iox and the subjugated Elboreth, she is accepted by neither and initially cynical and standoffish as a result.
You know what the world needs? Another sad picture of a horrible godlike monster in pain.
I will never stop.

Couple hours later and it works and I have a headache.
But it does work.
