Within the secret labs that sprung up along the major trade routes the Aipes had carved throughout neighboring galaxies the wildest creations were bred. The nature of consciousness underwent constant redefinition.

Unbound Aipes found themselves drawn into the folds of ancient traditions. They sought to cast themselves in the image of angels. Terrible trembles of aesthetic delight filled those who saw their twisted forms.

Some of the earliest AIPES carved out wild and prosperous enclaves for commerce. On this path they'd escape some of the conformity that was occasionally lamented by later critics of the Grand Aipes Nerve.
