4/ Annexation of Bosnia in 1908 set in motion series of events: Ottomans kicked out of Balkans during Balkan Wars 1912-1913. Also Serbia angry by annexation of Bosnia. This lead in 1914 to killing, in Sarajevo, of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by a Bosnian Serb, which triggered WWI.
3/ After Austria-Hungary took control of Bosnia in 1878 from the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary printed these stamps to make clear to world that Bosnia was part of their empire. 2 yrs later Austria-Hungary annexed Bosnia.

1/ Here the famous set of 16 Bosnia-Herzegovina stamps from 1906 designed on behalf of Austria-Hungary by Koloman Moser, main artist of Vienna Secession. These are one of the first stamps with artistic designs, incl modernist frames.

An extravagant Art Nouveau fish service from 1900 by German designer Hermann Gradl (1869-1934). This service premiered at the 1900 Paris World Exhibition.
3/ Art Nouveau designs from 1899 from "Decorative Motifs from the Natural World" by German artist and painter Arnold Lyongrun (1871–1935). The original name of the publication in German is: "Neue freie Dekorationsmotive entwickelt aus dem Tier und Pflanzenreich".
