My Captain Xel? Kahvi hands down. Mind you, they aren't the characters to a T, but going down the road of Nostalgia, now 20 years later.. I see the connections.

Even now, my characters, the OCs that I created, the Roleplay I get into, it vibes deeply with what this comic has given me. My characters love intensely just like the many couples in the comic, and even their personalities can be linked to the ones in Elfquest.

I started drawing because I wanted to be able to create such beautiful images as the comics showed. Granted, I was 12-13 at that time, but the foundation of what I do now was made.

And they had kids.. Ember was so much like her father and I resonated a lot with her.

And even better, since my parents are white and black, they represented that as well! In such a loving and supportive way. I'll never see a better love than these two.

So growing up, I found this comic @elfquest. I'd go to the library every friday to pick up a new one because wow. Growing up as a mixed kid in a pretty white environment, representation matters and THEY HAD THAT.
Leetah was my go to girl.
