Wearing the colour black was thought to honour the dead during mourning. However, in some cultures white is worn, & in others, red, which symbolizes blood. In Victorian times, during 'half-mourning', people could wear lilac, grey, or lavender.

Boudica was a Celtic queen who led an uprising against the invading Romans. Despite failing to prevent Roman rule, she is considered a folk hero. Her cause of death is unknown, but stories speculate possible illness or suicide by poisoning to avoid capture.

In Ireland, some believed that when people died, they went to fairyland. As such, fairies were thought to be just the departed dead instead of corporeal & magical tricksters, & fairy sightings could have just been ghost encounters.

Plutus is the Greek god of wealth. In Aristophanes' comedy, Zeus blinds Plutus so that when he distributes his wealth & treasures he will not be prejudiced. But when Plutus regains his sight, he can then determine who is worthy, & havoc ensues.
