I've been using ammonites in my artwork for many years. They can simply be appreciated for their beauty. But I'm always trying to hint at themes of impermanence, ecology & how tiny humankind is in the context of deep time.

I chose sassafras for this pairing because the shape of the leaves reminds me of dinosaur footprints.🐾 Sassafras trees were around in the late Cretaceous too!
