In the early 2000s, there was an effort to open a “2nd gate” at one of the entry orifices that was much closer to the Midland/Odessa metropolitan area. Guests would have descended this entry orifice via an articulated elevator to a second Lower Visitor Center. 1/2
Some behind-the-scenes stuff: a lot of the time I fully model an environment to create a "photo", and the age of the photo helps to hide the rendering artifacts. The only downside is that there is usually a lot of detail in the scene that doesn't make it to the final image.
2022 was a blur. I set a goal of broadening my toolset and I made some progress. I made a documentary! For 2023 I need to better dial-in my focus, I think.
These sprites, while impressive, don't do a great job of conveying the scale of these machines. The flying fortress "Vahrstor" below comprises an entire level of the game, requiring the game's screen to dramatically pan over it's bulk. Would KILL for an art book. ⤵️
