I won't spoil all of the familiar faces, but I will say the Mewtwo is pretty good in this comic.
And you've got to understand - I hate mewtwo in fanworks.

(The original characters are fantastic as well. Jen in particular has honestly changed my perception of audino entirely)

Gengar (from rescue team) is part of the main cast, and is consistent with his past character, but also is given tons of character development, and fleshed out in many ways. His relationship moments with the main character are some of the most enjoyable parts of the comic.

However, Victory Fire not only takes care to not step on the toes of people who have played the games (the protagonists of each game are never seen or discussed in a way that conflicts with your pokemon choice,) but also presents old characters in a fantastic way.

While most other PMD fanworks tell their story in a brand new setting, Victory Fire uses characters and events directly from the games. This can unappealing - for me sometimes directly involving source material can conflict with my own conceptions of the characters and the world.

You can't talk about VF without mentioning that it is made entirely in MS Paint. That fact that it looks this good despite this is interesting, but what's more important is why this authors decided to make the comic this way, Because it really highlights the artistic drive of VF.

While Victory fire is a PMD Fancomic, it also mixes in some elements and characters from other pokemon series, including the main games as well as the colosseum series.

It was initially made by a two part duo, but the comic is usually associated with SulferBunny, aka Mags.
