According to his contemporaries, Franz Adolph of Freenthal was “an energetic man of the world with varied fortunes, first-rate eloquence, and many English passions.” This painting is probably Adolph’s best work, which he painted after his return from Britain to Moravia in 1770.

A great pleasure to see Johann Lucas Kracker’s ceiling painting in St. Nicolas church in Prague newly restored after over 60 years!
