I'tisam-ud-Din , a Mughal diplomat, was one of the earliest Indians to write a travelogue on Europe. He visited England in 1765 and on his return, wrote the 'Shigurf Namah i Vilayat' (The wonders of Vilayet) on what he saw there.

1/2 Rukmini Lakshmipathi became one of the first women political prisoners in India when she was jailed for a year after the Salt Satyagraha at Vedaranyam, in present-day Tamil Nadu. Fearless, she braved blows as the marchers ‘made salt’ and defied the Salt Tax in April 1930.

that Assam has a state anthem? Titled ‘O Mur Apunar Dex’ (O My Endearing Land), it was penned by Assamese poet, novelist and playwright Lakshminath Bezbarua and officially adopted as the state’s anthem in 1927, when Assam was a province of British-India.
