Watching Ben Robinson (Villages by the sea) last night prompted a revisit to #Ravenglass #Roman Fort.
Sliced by a railway and eroding into the sea, the best feature is the bathouse.
The town shows a boat shaped market place for livestock (easy to gate!)

Just in case you wondered why this hill was chosen for Cley Hill #Hillfort, here is the wider topographic view.
An amazing commanding position!
The lower left is the Longleat estate.

The Trundle (meaning 'A circle'), is an Iron Age #hillfort on St Roche's Hill, Chichester, West Sussex and contains a Neolithic Causewayed enclosure (The inner circle), along with a demolished 14C chapel. #HillfortsWednesday #Lidar
Four more #Lidar images of #Cissbury Ring showing the extensive flint mining at the west of the site. The SLRM/Open Positive Lidars particularly shows the field systems, pits, sub-rectangular Romano-British buildings and prob WW2 AA batteries. #HillfortsWednesday
