We seem to have a bit of a seaside theme going on in our work at the moment. Phoenix member Kate Davis is fascinated by the flint and fossil stones found on the Jurassic coast.

A key strand of Maria Walker's practice is the exploration of various ideas to do with the human body. Inspired by an old encyclopoeadia, she has begun a project about the heart. She scanned her hand-stitched heart, printed it onto fabric to make this 3D version.

Robertta couldn't see what was not right with this piece. Added stitching wasn't bringing everything together as she had hoped. She left it and went for a walk and it came to her that she needed to add moss and lichen to the stones - hey presto, problem solved! See second image.

Fabulous simple watercolours by Linda, making us all yearn to escape!

Robertta has been using an oak twig as a drawing tool. She says it was harder to control than the pipette but it makes some interesting textural marks.
