TONIGHT at 8:00 PM PST or so, I'm digging into the archives and playing Legend of the Blob Bros. 2 2.0 Preview Edition! this is an old one-world demo that I haven't seen in nearly 20 years! what eldritch horrors await us?!?

let's meet some residents of the Village of Civilization! we originally thought their palettes were lost forever when the backgrounds were removed, but it turns out they were hiding in the final Iron Castle data, which is kind of intriguing for a few reasons...

this was all we had of these areas for YEARS, until one of the aforementioned incredibly smart people, @vervalkon, decided to write a program that compares averaged frames from the video with the unused graphics and "guesses" a palette automatically. the results are... impressive

sometimes I'm convinced Twitter doesn't test their mobile UI on smartphones. if I want to view a full tweet/thread, I have to carefully tap one of the areas highlighted in green. the red areas perform different functions. the white blob in the second image represents my thumb.
