I remember in the Sonic Forces prequel comics, Knuckles has a very calm reaction to “chaos” suddenly appearing which implies it still hangs out there.

Omega joins Shadow and Rouge at first only because he wants revenge on Eggman, but slowly ends up becoming their most reliable friend.

Rogue laments at the end that their Shadow might be a robot, but Omega reassures her the original must be alive for a duplicate to exist.
