How Doc Shaner draws Plastic Man’s eyes in his goggles and how Alex Ross draws them feels like a two sides of the same coin. They feature the eyes, the area around them, and the reflections, but while Ross is very realistic and maybe uncanny, Shaner is very comic-y and stylized.
@Keystone_Devil It’s from Tiny Titans, like the Cass look!
I wish JLA: Scary Monsters was put on digital stores. It’s a great self contained miniseries that deserves more love
I also think they need to have different JL teams again
It’s Doc Shaner’s birthday, so let’s appreciate his amazing art!
You can even tell he’s based off of the Plas Jr. of the 60’s comic by his girlfriend in “The Kingdom: Offspring” series he came from, Mikey DeLute, a direct pull from that original comic. Plus, in the end of the Kingdom series, when heroes see their alt selves, Plas Jr is shown!
Did you know that Plastic Man’s son Luke was a re-invention of the Silver Age Plastic Man, who was the original’s son? While he wasn’t made into Plastic Man again, the idea of him being the original’s son stuck, and he was given a new name and costume in the form of: Offspring!
