In conclusion, I love Oekaki boards. They taught me everything. Bring them back 🙏 The end. #illustration #oekaki
I developed a bunch of OCs on these sites. They thrived, too. I still doodle them in my sketchbooks. They even got fanart! (3rd pic by CaptStrife)
My favorite artist was Lau. His art was incredible. Prior to that, my visual knowledge was pretty rudimentary. I was into video game art and anime. Lau's work was familiar, but more personal. Here are a few pics I saved from years ago. #oekaki #neuroekaki #lau #illustration
Two boards particularly captured my attention: NeurOekaki BBS & Fearsome Oekaki. Sadly neither site is all that active these days. I looked up to a lot of artists on those sites. They influenced me monumentally.
Most of the other artists were much older than me, I assume, but they were very supportive. Sometimes I got some good critiques. It was super chill. If there was any drama, I was unaware of it.
I love Oekaki boards so much. I used to draw on them when I was a teenager (2003-2010). Before I had access to Photoshop, the free Oekaki app was the next best thing. The community made it a very good environment for a novice artist like me to learn.
New page up on Catberry Jam today! This time, Jam comes to a realization.
