Please do yourself a favor and check out some of the traditional animated features that came out while Disney was absent. If you lament that 2D is dead but refuse to look outside your bubble, you're contributing to a self-fulfilling prophecy. Don't rely on Disney for everything.
I want to bring to light a Chinese animated film called 'Nezha Conquers the Dragon King.' It's from 1979 and despite its age, it has all the hallmarks of a great movie. It has a gripping story, a likable protagonist, a despicable villain and some parts are genuinely disturbing.
