Cucumericrus, a giant primitive arthropod from the Cambrian of China.
I have seen this Chengjiang GLS morph multiple times now, and I’m still not sure what it represents. It’s huge, and rather unlike Amplectobelua.
It could be Ramskoeldia (the size seems to match, perhaps also the large tooth at the end), but I’m not even close to certain yet.
@PaleoCameron join the winning team, see how lobopods are the real main characters in the story of life
6k followers! Very cool number I think. I don’t know what else to do to celebrate, so I’ll do a Q&A thing. Ask me any questions, I’ll answer them.
A life sized reconstruction of the head of Amplectobelua symbrachiata, a giant predatory radiodont from Cambrian China.
@SexCasper @ThoughtSlime I study animals from the Cambrian, so they’re my go-to subjects. Particularly animals known as Radiodonts and Lobopods (Hallucigenia, Opabinia, Anomalocaris, the whole gang)
The bolide rips into a blood red sky as the air around it screams, and death is ushered unto us, the earth rings like a bell, the opening rite of the apocalypse. The ending of it all begins again. 66 MYA.
Improvement check.
