Today, 1943: Victory Through Air Power debuts. It's perhaps the oddest film in the Disney canon. This storyboard by Marc Davis depicts the finale, when an animated eagle representing the Allies defeats a squid attempting to entangle the world with the tentacles of fascism.

Today in 1959 Donald in Mathmagic Land was released alongside the film Darby O'Gill and the Little People. Directed by Ham Luske, the short follows Donald Duck on a journey through a magical land ruled by mathematics, to learn how math is a fundamental element of our daily lives.
