I do sometimes think about what a strange coincidence it is that two of my favourite characters use lances (well, a naginata is close enough).

It's not a common weapon type in either series. At least, infantry wise in Fire Emblem.

A lot of people are familiar with the concept of Japan only releases on Nintendo systems. But what's discussed much less often are games that *never* got released in Japan. Like Dr. Mario 64 and Pokemon Puzzle League. First party IPs and developed by Nintendo, but no JP release.
