Running out of ways to praise the direction in this series without sounding like a broken record. So instead I'll mention how Akira Matsushima absolutely dominated here. Minutes worth of action-filled key animation as well as a very present sakkan role. 10/10 easily

tnk's drawings are probably easiest to recognize through his thin, wispy effects work. Whether it be hair, water, blood or smoke! These loose and un-detailed drawings are part of what makes his work load possible, he more than makes up for it with frenetic energy in his movement!

We arrive at our turning point in the journey we're taken on with this character over these short 20 minutes. Highlighted by a couple gorgeous layouts, Shikamaru finally realizes what Asuma was referring to when he spots the "King" and connects the two metaphors.
