Tales of Destiny first released on this day in 1997. The same day one year later, the PlayStation remake of Tales of Phantasia, the first entry in the series, released for the first time.

Kingdom Hearts II first hit stores on this day in 2005, arriving in Japan first. It'd come to North America the following March, then Europe in September.

Final Fantasy IV for the Nintendo DS was out today in 2007. An acclaimed 3D remake complete with voice acting, later ported to PC and mobile. Pictured, the Japanese, NA, and EU covers - a rare FF release with three different box designs.

The anniversary has been celebrated with games a few times over the years, so today is also the birthday of a few other FFs - including Dissidia: Final Fantasy (2008) and Final Fantasy Explorers (2014), both another year older today.
