Possibly an offshoot species of the Arthropod species. These aliens did not develop a humanoid structure physically but secured themselves into bodyarmor to emulate one. The only opening in said armor is the “mouth”.

Hapterotroph: sentient fungi whose home planet is actually a dead extinct creature. The universes clean up and funeral crew. On their home "planet" they require corpses to feed their growing population without depleting the flesh under their roots.

One of my favorites again: ZBLAN collectives. Radioactive sentient algae that uses ZBLAN glass to construct crude humanoid forms for travel. Their buildings are just giant towers made of multiple collectives! (They hate space whales)

Obid. Mega Fauna that collect anything and everything within their stomach pouches to eat later. Intelligence is what makes them so fearsome in comparison to many other species of Mega Fauna; as they know stations, ships and buildings contain people and thus - food.

Orishellcamille: Giant Enemy Crabs. Dislike squids in all forms. Rarely seen outside of their armor. Tongue is their only dexterous limb.

One of my favorite designs: Sanguids. They're a parasitic species of the blood drinking variety. Highly Disliked by the other sentient species of their world: Giant Enemy Crabs.
