For the past couple days I've been thinking very intently about a chocolate matcap. Fun fact: what defines chocolate in CG (like many other smooth materials) are surface imperfections.
Just for fun I made a box cover for Bibi: Cargo Chase!! (available from @itchio at https://t.co/lDxc1kLNbQ ). Maybe I can push to make this a real thing?
I have only plugged in a single formula and not the whole process and I am already hopeful
it blends the specular+diffuse result using via screen, then blends that result with the original texture/colour via multiply. produces a very viable ambient colour lighting.
Here's the final result using diffuse lighting, ambient cubemap lighting, and specular !!
I'm not sure this is what @lazythunk anticipated when going by 'Kappa' but enjoy this cursed image
