Flashback to 10 years ago(!) when I was working on promo art. This was the art direction : “splashy color, rough, energy”
Mid image was my exaggeration of the original sketch. Final rough. They ended up using another artist’s rendition that was more impressionistic.

Check out how Wally Wood used 4 types of rendering as the crowd recedes into space. The first could be FG figures in an avg medium shot panel. The fourth becomes abstraction of positive and negative shapes. #mastery #comicbookart
