@Sherowkey Man, these are sooo good. I did an interpretation of Emboar as a quadruped and I really wish Gamefreak went in that direction 😭
It's #GetYourArtUnderwater so I'm going to repost the same art that my followers have seen 10,000 times.
Two traditional pieces + two digital pieces 🐟🦀🦐🐠
(I'm working on four scientific illustrations for my company right now so I am actually painting again!!)
A selection of illustrations for #SciArtTweetStorm. Love following the sci artists & scientific illustrators from this hashtag!
Sorry for my absence. I am 2 signatures away from PhD conferral & have transitioned well into my new fulltime job, but life is busy & tiring atm ❤
@ravenscimaven Marine ecologist and visual artist - been creating art my whole life and there was no way I was stopping! Started my freelance art business the year I started my PhD, & have been doing lots of SciArt and scientific illustration commissions as part that 😊
Quick break from thesis writing to share some of my #SciArt pieces for #sciartportfolioweek
So many amazing scientific illustrators and SciArtists on Twitter. Can't wait to create more science artworks after I submit my PhD thesis in October 🤩

'Deception' - digital illustration of the red fox from several years back in my illustrative style 🦊🦊
This is also one of my most infringed/plagiarised pieces (watermark/signature at the bottom of the neck is probably too well hidden 😉)
Photoshop + Wacom Cintiq 24HD
More digital #SciArt goodness! This was an illustration I did for the PhD research of a good friend. Species is the yellowtail kingfish (Seriola lalandi)
The anatomy highlights the biliary system (liver, gallbladder, bile ducts) that are the focus of his research.
I swear it's #PortfolioDay once a week now but alas!
I'm René - PhD candidate in marine ecology & visual artist. I work in both traditional & digital mediums, often exploring realism or stylised illustrations with themes of nature, science & the environment!

Off to do lots of crab DNA extractions in the next fortnight, so hopefully I fit some painting time in soon.
But in the meantime here's some marine-themed traditional paintings I have done in the past 🦀🐠🦑🦐🐚
(P.S. notice the world map on the crab carapace? 😉)
