I wanted to make some paintings of MTG characters, here are my favorite ones so far. I have a few more on the way (and Nahiri here is actually just a crop of a much larger WIP) but these will have to do for now, as it's nigh Inktober o'clock, so only MTG ink drawings for a bit.

Here's a preview of the newsie heroes of my original MTG comics series, "Coverage Draft." The actual style's more of the latter's, but I wanted to make some paintings at the time when I painted the first image. I was also interested in the muted color palette, emphasizing B&W&R.

I enjoy playing black, so I always hope for really sweet-looking Swamps each set, but all the cool lands usually end up being Islands. And the Swamps we do get are too often simply about creepiness, rarely beauty or coolness. Anyway, here are some sketchy attempts at Swamps.

I love music, but certain styles are unbearable. Rap & electronic took a while for me to come around to, though I still don't really take them "seriously," but lately I've been enjoying those "Trappin in [Location]" & phonk YT lists. Here's a DJ inspired by a musical classmate.

I don't really like doing fan art unless it's kinda obscure somehow. I drew Alex Doonesbury to celebrate her comic's 40th anniversary. Doonesbury was a big inspiration in college, as creator Garry Trudeau was an alum and we both did satire. I got to meet him when he visited Yale.
