Checked out Okja on Netflix for obvious reasons. Bong Joon-ho is shooting his way up as one of my favorite directors. Recommending all of his filmography that I've seen thus far here with The Host (2006), Snowpiercer (2013), Okja (2017), and Parasite (2019).
Watched the Netflix anime Ni No Kuni because I don't deserve nice things. Uninspired and lame story completely lacking in personality with characters that are impossible to give a shit about. Occasional ambition in animation, but the boring artwork does it no favors. 2/10

Princess Principal Cool action, spy romp bolstering a lavish Victorian era meets steampunk aesthetic. Characters are surprisingly strong and small technical touches in editing, sound design, animation, etc. keep it sleek and fun to watch. GET ACROSS THE WALL! 7/10
Goddamn, the re-authored Blu-ray of The Thing (1982) is so damn impressive. Looks amazing and goes to show just how well the cinematography holds up. But personally, I might stick to the DVD copy as the dated resolution better suits the grittiness the movie's going for.
Gave Kizumonogatari 1 a watch (having dropped Bakemonogatari). Glossy visual direction that doesn't really support anything interesting or endearing story-wise. Bolsters a mysterious art house atmosphere that, while stunningly presented, failed to resonate with me. 4/10
Hibike! Euphonium Really solid music, high school series with appropriately nuanced drama and naturalistic characterisation. Occasionally abandons that subtly (especially in its use of score) in service of melodrama, but the cast and their ambitions keep it engaging. 7/10
