The final cover for my first full-length work of non-fiction, a regimental and social history of one hard-fighting British unit during the American Revolution! Can be preordered on the website of the publisher, Helion, or via all the usual outlets. All support much appreciated!

A nice portrait I hadn't seen until now featuring one Captain Patrick Campbell, c. 1775, by John Singleton Copley. While not a wartime portrait, this gives a good indication of how British officers in the RevWar dressed, eg. not always yards of lace and gold tape.

The Black Watch at the Battle of Fontenoy by William Skeoch Cumming. This was the first major European battle involving highland troops in the British Army. They used 'traditional' clan styles of fighting, including hugging the earth before charging with their broadswords.

How good would it be if Games Workshop did a Made to Order on that old Nurgle circus caravan from Mordheim? I once wanted to build an entire army around those minis.

Great little sketches of the 43rd Regiment (that would go on to become the Royal Highland Regiment/Black Watch) by an anonymous German artist c. 1740. Some of the earliest images of highlanders in the British Army.

Carrying on with photos from the Highlanders museum at Fort George yesterday - this is “Group of the 79th beside Mills Mount battery, Edinburgh Castle” by R. R. McIan, 1854.

For the record, my 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th favourite villains.

I get hyped for pretty much all Games Workshop releases to a greater or lesser extent, but nothing ever does or ever will get me going like new Slaves to Darkness/Warriors of Chaos minis. Time my Daemon Prince ascended to even greater heights I'd say.

True, quite the distinctive bunch in that piece (and the later reconstruction)!
