Super busy week but I finished a blog post on saving throws in Bhakashal.

CRUNCH ALERT!

The takeaway: saves are tied to class and ability scores, they are a bit harder, but there is save progression at every level, and some discretionary bonuses

Finished off the armor rules for Bhakashal, I have made some changes to the classification of armor in the PHB and DMG, added custom movement and initiative modifiers for heavier armor, and I've tweaked shields and added shield proficiency rules.

Details later, bedtime now...

One of the things I wanted for Bhakashal was to ensure that everyone gets to play what they want. As exciting as it was to qualify for a difficult class, missing out on what you want to play seems... wrong

Bhakashal fighters (mercenaries) are badass, formidable, flavorful and fun.

The discussion for the last day on the "mob boss" DM has really clarified something that I have been musing on for a while. For the longest time I have had a policy around here:

Don't assume what other people do or do not know about D&D

Front and back of the first module I ever saw. I wanted to go there!

One of the advantages of running a D&D business is I get to test out rules for Bhakashal. That means that every mechanic that appears in the game has spent hours at the table being tested by my manic 10-14 year old players. I have been fiddling with the combat system for a bit

I always struggle to explain how my games work, I run a full sandbox game, which means a lot of random rolling and the players get to do what they want. That produces some of the wildest play experiences, as there is no plan, no structure and no “story” being told

I've been playtesting grappling rules in Bhakashal. My groups have discovered that grappling is an alternative to killing everything that opposes them. It's also something that makes "mobs" deadly, 0-level fighters are NBD until a group of them swarms you and drags you down...
