Genesis - 'Selling England By The Pound' (1973)

This was painted by an artist called Betty Swanwick. There are few better examples of a cover giving an accurate impression of the music on the record.

In this week in 1989 Great White were at #18 up from #25 on the Billboard 200 with '...twice shy'. It would stay on the chart for 50 weeks and peak at #9.

I forgot how big that album was actually. It sold over 2 million in USA. But in UK it did not even chart.

In this week in 1987 Frehley's Comet were a new entry on the Billboard chart at #118 with their excellent debut album. It would peak at #43 in 25 weeks on the listings.

It didn't chart in the UK but 'Second Sighting' did get to #73 for a week.

Eloy - 'Ocean' (1977)

Created by Wojtek Siudmak. Eloy never made inroads in the UK unlike other German bands in the mid-70s. I don't know why because they fitted perfectly onto the Pink Floyd/Hawkwind spectrum.

In this week in 1979, Van Halen entered the Billboard 200 chart at #46 with 'Van Halen II'. It would spend 47 weeks on the chart and peak at #6 and has now sold over 5 million copies.

In UK it would stall at #23 and spend 7 weeks on the listings.

Gentle Giant - 'S/T' (1970)

Created by George Underwood. He also did 'All The Young Dudes' for Mott, 'Hunky Dory' for Bowie, Procol Harum's 'Shine On Brightly' and many more.

In this week in 1986 Mr. Mister were at #5 on the Billboard 200 with 'Welcome To The Real World'. It hit the top of the chart for one week out of 58 on the listing.

In the UK it made #6 in 24 weeks on the chart.
