Ruby Spears Mario certainly was not anything I was able to experience as a kid, unlike Ruby Spears Mega Man. I would have been like 2.

But I now have this cel and sketch of one of the earliest Marios, from a Donkey Kong segment from the Ruby Spears show Saturday Supercade.
