@_Script_Daddy_ me attempting to detect lies and finding none
I think it was @Wonton_ who made a joke about Pirate Sorren, but the party is in a tropical climate now, so...
Functionally speaking, he'd probably have it off his neck in a tight bun like I do during the summer, but that doesn't look as good.
Recalibrated my monitor, have an 1.5 hr sketch of Sailor Jupiter as a colour test. :)
Draw the rest of the owl.
(Block in your other flats / light.)
Then, merge everything into one layer.
Paint the rest of the owl w/ your choice of brushes that do blending stuff on their own.
Get fun with some overlays and add reflected / rim light.
Basically
Lineart on multiply, lasso tool flats on midtone beneath.
Lock flats layer, use lasso tool to block out planes. Set gradient tool to 30%, "paint" light.
Doesn't have to be exact, but close enough. This requires colours/colour scheme to be picked beforehand.
So I figured out a new way of painting that saves me a whole bunch of time - especially because all I do these days is portraits.
Strap in. (Thread->)
